This is my first artwork that has been
published in “Majalah Sinergi Edisi - 5”. Yeah, I know, I know. It’s not that
cute, but I did tried my best. It’s my first one. Please spare me… <(=)”
Okay, back to our main topic please.
Rasulullah S.A.W.
Abu Hurairah, radiyallahu
'anhu, reported that a man said to the Prophet, sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam:
"Advise me!" The Prophet said, "Do not become angry and furious." The man asked (the same) again and again, and the Prophet said in each case, "Do not become angry and furious."
[Al-Bukhari; Vol. 8 No. 137]

These are among of the hadith that
is popular regarding “La Taghdhab” or “Do not become angry”. Why is it that our
Prophet forbid us from becoming angry? Is it really that bad? Why is it bad?
Actually, anger is a normal reaction for human when in disappointment,
frustration or being provoked. It is not wrong for us to become angry and
furious, but it will be wrong when we did not control ourselves and let our
emotion took ourselves over. When we let emotion takes over, we will usually
abandon our rational and logic thinking and bad things will likely to occur. The
consequences of this situation mostly will end or ruin relationship among
people.
I still remember what my murobbi
said to me: “It is not about what is happening to you, it is always about what
is happening inside of you”. In these days, there are millions of cases about
stress, unnecessary quarrelling and other cases that involves handling our
emotion. Most people are intelligent, having knowledge more than other people,
are geniuses in their own field of knowledge, but then not many of them are
able to control their anger, their emotion. Nowadays, there are a lot of
companies and organizations that makes Emotional Quotient (EQ) as their main
concern for choosing a candidate to work with them. Why? Because they do not
want to end up having an employee that throw his PC monitor to his colleague
that was teasing him, or one that smashes the photocopy machine when it does
not function properly (I know you guys have seen that video, right?).
Being a Muslim
does not only require us to follow the spiritual aspect of it where you will
pray, perform salah, hajj, saum, zakah etc. but also for us
to follow the deeds that have been shown by our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW. Islam does not
only teach us to take care of our “vertical” relationship towards The Almighty Creator,
but also to take care our “horizontal” relationship with other beings created
by Him. That is why controlling our emotions is important as it plays an important
roles in our communications with our surroundings.
“O you who
have believed, enter into Islam completely [and perfectly] and do not follow
the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.” [Al-Baqarah 2:208]
So, as for the
conclusion, to counter our emotional rage, we need to know how to find inner
peace. How? Easy. Find The Creator of “peace” itself. Who? Of course, Allah
Azza wa jall. Eh? You disagree? You say games, movies, your partners, cigarettes, alcohols will bring you peace? Hontou ni? Or is it just a distractions that makes you forget your problems
temporarily? Now please be true to ourselves. If not, please do have a read of
this beautiful ayah from the Holy Qur’an:
“Those who have believed and whose
hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the
remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." [Ar-Ra’d 13:28]
That’s
all from me, Mujahid Pingu. Till we meet
